With a heavy heart the Vallejo Police Department
calls to the end of his watch, Officer Jim Capoot 11-17-2011
Before joining the Vallejo Police Department Officer Capoot first enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 1986. After being stationed at Mare Island he would later go onto join the California Highway Patrol in 1990. Wanting to return to his "native" Vallejo hometown Officer Jim Capoot would join the Vallejo Police Department in 1992. Officer Capoot was highly decorated throughout his career and took his profession very seriously, however enjoyed giving back to the community. Officer Capoot even represented the Vallejo Police Department from an amateur-level dirt track racing level for a little while. Pictured here with his "modified" patrol vehicle.
During his career with Vallejo Police Department Officer Capoot received two Medals of Courage, two Life-Saving Medals and various other departmental recommendations. During his tour of duty Officer Capoot also saved the lives of two people by administering CPR.
Over the past 10 years, Capoot supervised the Vallejo Junior Safety Patrol program, teaching children to act as crossing guards throughout the city, He helped train over 500 children. Officer Capoot also helped Coach the Vallejo High School Girls Basketball Team to a Section Title Championship.
Capoot is survived by his wife Jennifer and three daughters. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
